Fun and Free!

Today we met up with a bunch of friends at Buffumville Lake to go hiking and LETTERBOXING- “ an intriguing pastime combining navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry in a charming "treasure hunt" style outdoor quest. A wide variety of adventures can be found to suit all ages and experience levels.”
The kids loved finding the clues along the way and stamping in their books that The Whiteheads so kindly gave us to start our journey.
This hunt had 10 clues, but some are shorter with less clues. Along with finding the letterbox (tupperware container with fact sheet and stamp) there was a short info fact about an animal and a rubber stamp that corresponds with the animal.

Sometimes there was a notepad to write in and say “we were here.” Keeping with the true Hobo fashion as of late, we were called Team Hobo with Lola’s foot pad being our official stamp.
Carving done by a beaver that looks like "Justin Beiber" or so they say
The kids eating an indian cucumber- tastes the same as a regular, but with dirt on it because we just pulled it from the ground
These lilies were beautiful! They were growing upside down and it looked like a chandelier

It was a great time! We set out around 10 and finished the 2.5 mile hunt around 1. Then it was off to sit by the water and have a picnic lunch.
Definitely a fun day and something FREE to do with the kids.
(Xander did the exact hike part (no letterboxing) backwards this evening with cub scouts. He's tired!)
